The Desire of All Nations
In scripture the phrase “the desire of all nations” is used by the Prophet Haggai. Describing symbolically troublous times when God would shake the heavens, the earth and all nations, Haggai links mankind’s final trouble with the blessings to be brought by Jesus upon his return.
Haggai 2:6-9 "For thus says the LORD of hosts, Once more in a little while,
I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.
And I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations;
and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.
The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of hosts.
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,
says the LORD of hosts,
and in this place I shall give peace,' declares the LORD of hosts.”
I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.
And I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations;
and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.
The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of hosts.
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,
says the LORD of hosts,
and in this place I shall give peace,' declares the LORD of hosts.”
The blessed peace between God and mankind will come through God’s glorified house, His temple. The nations will be so blessed by the restoration of fellowship with God that they will bring their riches (riches of love and desires for righteousness) to Him.
